Is NixSite free?
Yes. There is no subscription and no platform fee. You connect your own API key and pay the model provider for what you use. Google Gemini, Groq and OpenRouter have free tiers, so you can start without a card.
Can it build more than a landing page?
Yes. Projects can have several pages, shared styles and scripts, and backend routes in functions/api that store data in a key-value store. Contact forms, task boards, small shops and dashboards all work in the preview.
What does BYOK mean?
Bring your own key. Instead of buying credits from the builder, you paste an API key from a provider such as OpenAI, Anthropic or Google, and pay their normal price.
Where is my API key stored?
Only in your browser. NixSite calls the provider directly from your tab, so the key never reaches btalabs.dev. You can remove it any time in Settings.
Can NixSite search the web?
Yes, with providers that offer search: Anthropic, Google Gemini, OpenAI and OpenRouter. Turn on Search in the prompt bar and the model researches before it builds.
How do I put my site online?
Export the project as a ZIP and upload it to Cloudflare Pages. Static pages work anywhere; the functions folder runs as Cloudflare Pages Functions, the same way it runs in the preview.
Do I need an account?
A free BTA Labs account, which takes one click with Google or GitHub. You can open templates and look around without one.
How is NixSite different from Nix Agents?
NixSite builds websites and web apps in your browser. Nix Agents is a Windows app for running coding agents such as Claude Code and Codex on your own repositories. Both are made by BTA Labs.
